Nestled in the heart of Orvieto, within the walls of a deconsecrated 16th-century church, stands Coro — a restaurant where history, architecture, and haute cuisine converge in a single, captivating experience. This extraordinary venue has earned a place among the sixteen most beautiful restaurants in the world, according to the prestigious Prix Versailles 2025 — the international award celebrating excellence in architecture and design applied to hospitality.
More than just a recognition, it is a tribute that shines a global spotlight on Umbria and Italy, highlighting their contribution to the world of contemporary design. Coro is the only Italian restaurant selected for this exclusive Prix Versailles shortlist, which honors new openings that embody aesthetic beauty, social purpose, cultural impact, and architectural sustainability. Sponsored by UNESCO and the United Nations, the competition annually proclaims the World’s Most Beautiful Restaurants. As Italy awaits the final verdict in December, one thing is already clear: Umbria is home to the most beautiful restaurant in the country.

The project bears the signature of architect Giuliano Andrea dell’Uva, who transformed a sacred historic building into a refined fine dining space. The high vaulted ceilings, tufa stone, wood, and natural light are not mere decorative elements — they are integral to the story that unfolds among the tables. At Coro, architecture is not a backdrop: it becomes an experience.
Behind this vision are Chef Ronald Bukri and Maître and Restaurant Director Francesco Perali — two professionals with international backgrounds and a deep connection to the local territory. After a shared experience in Montalcino, they chose Orvieto to bring to life a project that harmonizes local roots and creative ambition.

The name “Coro” derives from the union of their initials — Francesco and Ronald — but above all, it represents an idea: a sense of shared harmony, expressed through mindful gestures, genuine hospitality, and essential cuisine.
The Prix Versailles 2025 marks the latest milestone in a journey that began just a year and a half ago. In that short time, Coro has already earned two “Forchette” from Gambero Rosso, inclusion in the Touring Club Italiano Restaurant Guide, and a mention among the Best Openings of 2024 by The Fork Awards.
Now, with its Prix Versailles nomination, the Orvieto restaurant competes for one of the three global titles — Prix Versailles, Interior Mention, and Exterior Mention.
An extraordinary opportunity for a restaurant that has made the coherence between cuisine, space, and narrative its defining signature.
